About Cold Sores - Part 2
It is important that you recognize factors that may cause you cold
sores, as they vary from person to person. You will need to take the
necessary precautions, if for example cold sores appear at home after
exposure to the sun, you can then use a lip balm containing a UV filter.
If they come by very cold weather, then make sure that you grease your
lips in freezing temperatures. There are other preventive measures to
protect the lips, but that is no guarantee that this unpleasant virus
not to return.
In their fight against cold sores some people use of alcohol, ice or
other remedies passed down from grandmother. Their usefulness has never
been demonstrated, but the use of alcohol on injured skin can aid
recovery. If you want to remove the liquid blisters just pat them with
dry cotton wool.
And for those who chose to treat the problem with ice, the cold may ease
the pain, but the ice can damage the mucous membrane of the lip.
Moreover, the healing will absolutely not be accelerated. Finally, the
use of toothpaste has absolutely no use at all.

There are on the market for antiviral drugs used to treat cold sores,
they are freely on sale in pharmacies and brand name drugs have their
cheaper generic versions. Most often, these products are intended for
local application, such as creams, ointments, gels or solutions.
There are also a series of treatments to be taken orally, these may be
recommended in very specific situations, but are available only on
medical prescription. Regarding herbal remedies, no rigorous study has
yet been conducted to prove its effectiveness.
The local treatments based antiviral drugs should be implemented as soon
as you feel a cold sore is preparing to form (tingling, itching,
burning). Repeat five times a day for a few days, but do you should be
under no illusion the result may even be non-existent. In the best case,
these treatments eliminate pain and shorten by one or two days the
duration of the disease. If you begin treatment while the cold sores are
already out, it will then be of no effect. Although side effects are
rare, you should always read the leaflet of medicines that you use. |
