Cold Sore Cures and Home Remedies
According to doctors the disease is most prevalent after the cold. If
you have suffered a cold sore you know the symptoms: the lip edge turns
red and swells then the cold sore appears as an unsightly and often very
embarrassing seeping spot that can take up to two weeks before
disappearing.
Almost no one escapes Herpes simplex virus at the origin of these small
red dots which can be painful. It can be contracted from the earliest
months of life through just direct contact with the skin to transmit the
herpes virus as it is highly contagious.
When the spot starts to appear on the lip it is better to avoid kissing,
eating with fingers or drinking direct from a bottle. Fortunately these
spots do not manifest themselves all the time and often appear at a time
of fever, stress, or if you are in condition or fatigued, at
menstruation or even after sunburn.
For the cold sores to develop they need arginine, a lively amino acid
that is found in foods such as chocolate, coca, peas, peanuts, cashews
and chicken so these will be food to avoid at the time of an outbreak.
In order not to have two weeks with this ungainly spot, drug treatments
are needed to eradicate the virus, unfortunately they are often
disappointing in their results.
There are some other treatments that can work just as well and if not
better than over the counter drugs such as a poultice of chamomile
flowers: Take flowers from the camomile plant that are dried and chopped
then mixed with warm water until forming a smooth dough. After a few
minutes place directly on to the cold sores and repeat the application
as many times as necessary until there is a complete disappearance of
the spot or cold sore.
Apply a bag of ice directly on the cold sore for 45 minutes and two days
after it should have disappeared. The remedy is similar to cryotherapy,
or cold therapy used in dermatology as it destroys or mitigates many
skin lesions, this is one way to quickly destroy cold sores.
Squeeze lemon juice has been used since the dawn of time, the lemon is a
popular condiment, but also has medicinal virtues recognized because it
has an anti-infection, disinfectant and antibiotic and has the
fortifying properties of vitamin C that it contains in a large quantity
(52 mg/100g) To remove the cold sore mix in equal parts lemon juice and
water and apply with a cotton bud.
Crushed garlic is well known for its many benefits; garlic is considered
as a combination of a food and a medicine and is most effective in
treating certain infections and diseases. Garlic is good for the fight
against cholesterol but it is also effective against herpes through its
antiviral ability it is able to isolate the virus but also to prevent
the appearance of blisters. As soon as you feel tingling feeling that
first heralds of the onset of cold sores, rub a peeled garlic clove on
the spot at the early phase. Herpes is a viral infection that can also
affect the genitals much more difficult to treat; in this case, medical
monitoring is required. |
